What your child does
A picture and word appear, like watermelon. Each tap of "Clap it!" plays a clap, lights a beat dot and says the next part of the word. Your child picks 1, 2, 3 or 4 claps, and the buttons show clap icons for non-readers.
The skill it builds
Counting syllables, a key phonological awareness skill. Correct answers split the word into its parts (wa-ter-mel-on).
The game's listing notes align it to Common Core RF.1.3.D, RF.1.3.E, RF.K.2.B.
